Adult Store 101: Down the Rabbit Hole

Every single day I have a few ladies come up to me and ask me for "The Rabbit"...

This was our "Rabbit" section of the store.

Sorry ladies, there is NO SUCH THING because as demonstrated above...there are too fucking many to count nowadays.

The ORIGINAL Rabbit was and still is made by an awesome company called Doc Johnson and made famous by the TV show "Sex & The City"... (which I never watched) but I did get "The Rabbit" which looked like this:

The Original Rabbit: The iVibe Rabbit made by Doc Johnson

Sadly, it only lasted a month and not from "overuse"...(STFU, you know who you are and I can hear you laughing!) To be honest, my kegel muscles crushed those " rotating pearls" into powder and it stopped working! So, I'm not really a fan of this model and don't recommend it usually unless someone requests it specifically. Their NEW version iVibe Select is much better and looks like this:

i Vibe Select Rabbit in Balck by Doc Johnson

When selecting your toy keep in mind the term "Rabbit" is now used pretty loosely now that the market has expanded... not all "Rabbits" look like their namesake...the clitoral stimulators may be shaped like other animals like butterflies, dolphins, or even hummingbirds...some may just have a nondescript design.

There are about 8 common styles of Rabbit: Bendable, Rotating, Rotating w/ Beads, Thrusting, Thrusting with Rotation (w/beads or without), Recharegable and Remote Control.

The Bendable Rabbit:

EX: Bendable Rabbit by California Exotics
Bendable Rabbits have a flexible spine in the shaft that can be manipulated to stay at different angles to reach just the right spot.

The Rotating Rabbit:

EX: Rotating Rabbit. The Jimmie Lightning Rod by Closet Collection. One of my favorites, it lights up!

These types of toys have a rotating shaft which is great for hitting your G-Spot (or finding it) most of them come with the ability to change the rotation direction or intensity.

The Rotating Rabbit With Beads:

EX: Rotating Rabbit with Metal Beads by Pipedream

This style of "Rabbit" has a Rotating shaft with the added bonus of having rotating metal bead inside the shaft that when used will gently massage the Vaginal walls. You can usually reverse the rotation direction and some may have different patterns of rotation.

The Thrusting Rabbit:

EX: Thrusting Rabbit

The Thrusting and Rotating Rabbit:

Ex: A Thrusting & Rotating Rabbit by Blush. See how the Clit Stimulator is a butterfly?
This design of "Rabbit" has a Thrusting shaft with Rotating massaging beads. You get the realistic motion of thrusting combined with massaging of the vaginal walls by the rotating beads and the clit stimulator.

The Triple Stimulator Rabbit:

EX Triple Ecstasy Thruster by Pipedream. I own this one personally! :-)
Now this type of "Rabbit" is NOT for beginners! Triple Stims can be any of the above styles or a combination. of them...with a twist because they also have a built in Anal stimulator for triple the fun SIMULTANEOUSLY! Definitely not for the faint of heart!

The Thrusting & Rotating Rabbit:

Ex: Remote control Trusting and Rotating Rabbit by Pipedream
Remote Controlled "Rabbits" can also be found in the above styles or any combination of the two and comes with a wireless remote control. These are better suited for couples...if your partner isn't exactly in the mood, to tired, busy with household stuff or surfing the web...just hand them the remote! Keep in mind the range of distance the remote can be away from the toy when trying these out (You can find out the range by reading the packaging...which lots of people DON'T do!)

The Rechargeable Rabbit:

EX: A Rechargeable Rabbit- Vanity #15 by JOpen
This style can also be found in the above styles. Fully Rechargeable either by USB or A/C adapter, some have a charging dock and others may just plug directly into the toy itself. These toys can get pretty expensive because they are usually made with higher quality materials and better quality motors,  and a one year warranty (typically) if you register your toy with the manufacturer. Definitely saves you money on batteries though, in the long run.
All of the toys I listed are most commonly made of TPE/TPR/Jelly material or Silicone. The material choice is up to your preference but PLEASE keep in mind that ALOT of women are ALLERGIC to toys made out of Jelly looking material....and they may not know it. I am one of these women, jelly toys can cause an unpleasant burning sensation like your coohie is on fire!)

Silicone toys are much more body safe and typically hypoallergenic...unless you're allergic to Silicone that is, which I have also come across but rarely.

Again, remember to read the packaging on your toy. The materials the companies used it make it should be listed there somewhere! If you're having trouble finding it...ask a member of the staff...Its what we get paid for!

The Battle of the Beads:

On the Left: The free floating pearls of iVibe Rabbit. On the Right: The mounted metal beads of the Waterproof Jack Rabbit by California Exotics

Earlier in the post, I mentioned how I was able to crush those free floating pearls in the iVibe Rabbit with just the awesome power of my vaginal muscles... totally true btw but due mostly in part that the beads are not attached to the rotating mechanism which can present a problem when you've decided the toy is one of your favorites. I am personally not a fan of plastic beads but if you don't mind them or have no preference, always look for a brand that has the beads attached to the rotating mechanism.

When it comes to my clients however, I always suggest a "Rabbit" that has mounted/attached metal beads, most packaging won't say it but most of them are non jamming...

There's a trick to finding a quality "Rabbit" and I love demonstrating it to the customer because visuals always get the point across better...

The Rabbit Trick:

If there isn't a display model to play around with, ask the staff if they will pop batteries in the toy of your choice and explain the features to you. Then, while you've got the toy running, put the toy on the highest Thrusting or Rotation setting, make the "OK" sign with your dominant hand around the shaft on the part of the toy that moves, using only that hand... lightly squeeze the shaft, gently tightening your fingers around the moving part. If you can, hold the toy out in front you with only that hand in the "OK" grip on the shaft...gently increase your grip til you are holding the shaft VERY firmly but still allowing for movement...

If the toy keeps moving like its supposed to smoothly in your grip, not in jerky movements...then you've found a WINNER if not, let it go and start looking for another!

Warranties & Maintenance:

If anything happens to your toy that's under warranty, you may be able to send it back to the manufacturer sometimes (good toy companies that care about their clients and brand name do it all the time) for FREE or the small price of shipping it back to them.

Maintenance on these toys are pretty easy: Remove the batteries after each use. Then use your favorite brand of toy cleaner or just plain ol' antibacterial soap and warm water for cleansing, dry, and store in your favorite hiding spot that's also dry and clean as well.

Hope you enjoyed your trip down the Rabbit Hole...I hope this helped guide you back home with a new friend...
